Julie Willis is Professor of Architecture and Dean of the School of Architecture, Building & Planning. He is an expert on the history of Australian architecture 1890-1950 and has undertaken important projects examining the development of modern hospital architecture in Australia; the importance of public buildings in community, civic and national identity; architecture during wartime and its subsequent impact on practice and production; and equality and diversity in the Australian architectural profession. His current research includes writing a short new history of Australian architecture; transmission and translation of architectural knowledge through professional networks in the field of architecture; and hospital design and its positive impact on patient well-being. He has an extensive publication record, including books, book chapters, journal articles, conference papers and articles in professional journals, and a distinguished record of attracting nationally competitive grant funding. He has received numerous awards for his scholarship, twice winning the Australian Institute of Architects Bates Smart Award for architecture in media. His major works include the Encyclopedia of Australian Architecture (Cambridge University Press, 2012) and the recently published collection Designing School: Space, Place and Pedagogy (Routledge, 2017).

SAPPK invited Prof. Julie Willis in the Ethics Research & International Guest Lecture activity which will be held from 10 to 11 October 2023 at the Labtek IXB Architecture Gallery and the Labtek IXA Multipurpose Room. The event took place in hybrid mode, so that students or participants who could not attend offline could take part via Zoom.

Prof. Julie Willis was welcomed by the Dean of SAPPK, Prof. Sri Maryati together with the PWK Study Program Lecturer, namely Bagas Dwipantara Putra, Ph.D. in R. Dean. After discussion and group photos, the agenda continued with a Research Ethics presentation at the Architecture Gallery, Fl. 1 Labtek IXB. Participants who attended included SAPPK lecturers and students from SAPPK.

On October 11, the next agenda is an International Guest Lecture with Prof. Julie Willis with the theme “The school shapes the child, the child shapes the school: The Architecture and Design of the Twentieth Century School”.
The event starts from 13.30 s.d. 15.30 WIB in the Multipurpose Room Fl. 6 Labtek IXA. Participants who attended were SAPPK lecturers and students. After the guest lecture session was finished, the event continued with a question and answer session and the presentation of certificates by the Dean of SAPPK. Then the event closed with a group photo.
