From 10-14 November 2016, Prof. Widjaja Martokusumo, the dean of School of Architecture, Planning and Policy Development ITB was invited by the Faculty of Architecture, University of Applied Sciences Erfurt. During the visit several meetings were made to discuss further academic collaboration between SAPPD ITB and faculties of FH Erfurt. Besides the Faculty of Architecture (Prof. R. Gruber and Prof. P. Krebs), discussions were attended by representative of the faculties, including the Faculty of Landscape and Agriculture (Prof. Rolf Johanssen, Prof Gert Bisschof) and Faculty of Civil Engineering (Prof. U. Neuhof), and the representative from the International Relations Office (Cornelia Witter). Within a decade, several jointly organized academic activities had been implemented, such as research on Tsunami, collaborative studios, student and academic fellow exchange and support for the establishment of Landscape Architecture program at SAPPD ITB. The preparation of the program had once been supported by the Faculty of Landscape  Planning FH Erfurt from 2009-2011. At the same time Prof. Martokusumo had also the opportunity to observe the on-going research project on Bamboo Joints, which was jointly organized by Dr. A. Widyowidjanoko and Rakhmat Aditra, ST, MT  (SAPPD ITB) and Prof. U. Neuhof (FH Erfurt). At the end of the courtesy visit, Prof. Martokusumo delivered a public speech with the title “ITB-FHE 2006-2016: A decade of collaboration“, that was intended to give the German audience (student and faculty) more highlights and insights on overseas semester and students’ mobility program  (joint design workshop etc.) Furthermore, Prof. Widjaja Martokusumo and Dr. Andry Widjowijatnoko left for Berlin to supervise ITB’s students at the WAF’s student design  competition (World Architecture Festival) 2016, Berlin. The students of the Department of Architecture was one of the 10 nominees, and they had to opportunity to present their design works before the jury at the WAF’s International Students Competition. The event in Berlin took place from 16-18 November 2016.
