In between the tight schedule of Summer Camp 14-25 August 2019, dean of SAPPD received A/Prof. Shimizu and A/Prof. Kim Dowon, College of Science Engineering of University of Resuming. They were both in charge in supervising their 23 participating students and part of the tutor team. The meeting was held in the dean office, and the guests were personally welcomed by the dean, Prof. Widjaja Martokusumo, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Dr. Denny Zulkaidi and Associate Dean for Resource, Dr. Sri Maryati. The afternoon talk dealt not only with the progress of Japanese students’ involvement in the 8th SAPPD Summer Camp, but also indicated several and possible academic engagements for the following year. Summer Camp itself is a multidisciplinary planning and design workshop, and it has been started in 2012, with the first case study Sawahlunto, a former coal mining city in the hinterland area of West Sumatera. Recently, the former Ombilin Mining Town Sawahlunto has officially been granted as a UNESCO World Heritage City. Furthermore, in the meeting, it was also discussed possible future programs following the Summer Camp, i.e. collectively-organised exhibition, faculty and student exchange program, training short visit for faculty member/student and joint-publication of the Summer Camp. In the term year of 2019, at least six undergraduate students of School of Architecture Planning and Policy Development ITB attended a special six month-exchange program in University Resuming at Biwako Campus, whereas at Ibaraki Campus there are at least four students of Linkage-Program.
