Collaboration Class + Competition
Planning and Design Innovation
On Building Systems and the Post-Pandemic Environment

Brief Description and Purpose
This collaborative course is intended primarily for undergraduate students with models such as Mini Capstone Project which provides opportunities for students to demonstrate design and analytical skills within the scope of building projects and the surrounding environment in an integrated and cross-disciplinary manner.
The pandemic changes not only the way of life and human behavior, but also changes how buildings should be designed and constructed in order to accommodate new behaviors in accordance with the Adaptation of New Habits – New Normal.
Purpose
This collaborative class aims to:
- Provide experience in carrying out the design process in each field according to their profession.
- Provide design learning experiences with multi-disciplinary problems.
- Improve communication, collaboration and leadership skills, as well as,
- Trying to apply the latest methods, techniques and tools, sustainable concepts and professional ethics.

Mechanism and Registration
- Each student takes elective courses related to their respective professions in the field of science or study program with a load of 2-4 credits (For example in Architecture, participants will get a total of 4 credits).
- Students register with each Head of Study Program. The number of students per study program is 5-6 people.
- One group of students from a study program will then be combined with a collaboration team with several groups from other study programs. A Collaboration Team will be guided by a multi-prodi Advisory Team, consisting of one lecturer for each study program. The student group of a study program will be guided by the lecturer of the study program.
- The meeting schedule for the Collaboration Team and Study Program student groups will be determined based on a mutual agreement between the Collaboration Team and the Advisor.
- The class will be divided into several groups, where in each group there are multi-disciplines: AR, SI, TL, MS, EL/IF/STI, TF, DI and each group works on a design project that is carried out from various disciplinary perspectives. knowledge. Each supporting lecturer from each Study Program will collaborate to supervise one class.

Schedule of Programs and Activities
- Jadwal rencana program dan kegiatan sebagai berikut:

Case Study
- As a case study for this project is the architectural design of three buildings from three ITB campuses, one building from the Ganesha campus, one building from the Jatinangor campus, one building from the Cirebon campus, following the digital data in the form of pictures.
- The collaboration class will be divided into multiple multidisciplinary groups (Collaborative Teams) and each group will get one case study which is determined randomly.
- Based on these inputs, the Collaboration Team can search for relevant data and information for design development up to the Pre-Design level (preliminary).
Output
- The output of the collaboration team will be contested with the title of the competition: “Safe Space: Re-envisioning Building System Design in New Era”
- Thus the output of this project is:
- Calculation/analysis related to the preliminary design of each field
- Innovative design drawings and models according to the theme, required at the preliminary level
- Specifications required at the preliminary level
- Resumes of innovations proposed from each discipline related to building reliability, namely: safety, health, convenience and comfort, especially views on post-pandemic conditions.
- Each Collaboration Team must submit a team report covering all of the above. No individual reports required, contributions from each member must be on the team report.

Course Equivalence
In the Architecture Study Program, this activity will be accommodated in two elective courses, namely:
- Participants from other Study Programs can get course recognition from their respective Study Programs.

Collaboration across Study Programs
This Collaboration and Competition class has the final output in the form of design solutions and engineering on building systems and environments proposed by each collaboration team. All lecture sessions, tutoring and workshops are provided and are aimed at assisting students in understanding the problems in the project at hand and proposing integrated innovative solutions based on several multidisciplinary parameters.
With the title of the contest: “Safe Space: Re-envisioning Building System Design in New Normal”, each Collaboration Team is expected to find solutions according to their respective fields of study, to the building system and a safe environment to accommodate the activities in it, according to the context of the specified case study. Each Collaboration Team can propose design and engineering solutions that have a vision for the future, relevant to issues of sustainability, energy saving, 4.0, and others.
