In the realm of community planning and development, knowledge production is a dynamic and contested process. Citizen Science offers a transformative approach by actively involving communities in creating knowledge, challenging traditional boundaries between experts and laypersons.

While Citizen Science holds great promise, it also raises key ethical and policy questions. How can we ensure inclusive participation and co-produced knowledge that is both equitable and impactful? This approach challenges traditional boundaries by highlighting whose knowledge counts and how diverse perspectives can shape solutions to complex socio-environmental issues. Additionally, while new technologies like digital platforms and GIS enhance accessibility, they also introduce challenges related to inequality and the digital divide.

This webinar will explore how Citizen Science, through both established and new methods, can democratize knowledge, enhance collaboration, and promote more equitable solutions in community planning and development.
