Ecology for Landscape architecture

This course studies ecological principles and their application for landscape design. The content covers key ecological concepts (trophic levels, food chain and network, energy follow, material cycle); important abiotic and biotic factors affecting distribution and abundance of species (climate, landform, demography, competition & exploitation); characteristics of major terrestial and aquatic ecosystems of Indonesia; ecosystem dynamics (disturbance & succession); landscape structure (patch, corridor and mosaic); application of ecological structures for landscape design.
Students will be able to use ecological principles to design landscapes that is optimized for benefit of humans and the environment.
