The School of Architecture, Planning, and Policy Development (SAPPD) ITB has over 1600 full-time students of undergraduates and post graduate programs, 109 active faculty members and 47 academic staffs, with the main campus is located at Bandung City, West Java, Indonesia (see map here).
Currently, the School has 9 Research Groups with 11 professors together with lecturers, 97 doctoral students, master students and technical staff. Those Research Groups are:

International Ph.D Students
The Doctoral Program provides students with excellent research skills and in-depth expertise in their field. The candidates choose research fields from the Research Groups ranges from architectural design, architectural history and theory, sustainable building technology and materials, housing and settlements, regional and urban infrastructure planning and design, and transportation.
Doctoral education allows students to acquire more in-depth scientific knowledge and more extensive skills in research and their practical application than master’s program. Research training, which focuses on research and its practical application, is a key element of doctoral education. High-quality research is an integral part of doctoral education and research training. Upon completion of the program, our graduates typically go on to pursue research and teaching careers in universities and research institutions or expert and management careers in the private and public sectors.
Ph.D Program in Built Environment:
- 3 years full-time Ph.D .
- Ph.D Scholarship from ITB.
- Living allowance in Bandung City up to 3 years from SAPPK
Qualifications: Applicants must: 1) have completed a master degree in a related field, 2) manifest a strong background in the research area s/he is applying for, 3) show a strong publication record, and 4) Fluent English is required.

For program application through Research Group, an application must include:
- Motivation Letter, including full contact information (max. one A4 page, single space).
- Research plan on the selected research area of the Research Group (max three A4 pages, 1.5 space). Will be evaluated against scientific quality and relevance to the SAPPK’s Research Road Map 2020-2025.
- CV including publications and contact information for 2 reference persons (max three A4 pages, single space).
- Summary of the Master Thesis (max one A4 page, single space).
- A certified copy of master degree certificate and its translation, if the originals are not in English.
All material should be submitted in English in a single pdf-file (compiled with an order specified above) when make correspondence to the head of the Research Group.
SAPPK ITB reserves the right for justified reasons to leave the positions open, to extend the application period and to consider candidates who have not submitted applications during the application period.
International Post-Doc Researchers
SAPPK seeks two (2) highly qualified and motivated individuals with enthusiastic attitude towards high-quality research to work as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the SAPPD. The position is for a period of one year, with a mid-term review, and should start on January 2021. The position is intended for full-time work.
Teaching duties of the position are limited to about 10% of working hours and are related to Master’s programs of the school. In addition, modest activity in guiding doctoral and master students is also expected. The Postdoctoral Researcher’s principal task is to conduct high quality research in one of the Research Group and produce a minimum one publication on international journals no less than Q2 grade.
The candidate should contact Head of the Research Group clearly state the theme(s) his/her research would focus on and indicate how it is in line with the ongoing research of the group.
Post-Doc Researcher in Built Environment:
