“Collaboration thrives in clarity; boundaries give it shape.”

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,
Warm greetings to all.

Welcome to the official website of the School of Architecture, Planning, and Policy Development (SAPPK), Institut Teknologi Bandung.

As a vital part of the academic community at ITB, SAPPK plays a strategic role in advancing knowledge, innovation, and policy in the fields of the built environment, spatial planning, and development. In alignment with ITB’s transformation into a Fourth-Generation University, SAPPK is committed to contributing meaningfully through strengthened governance, collaborative research, and a transformative learning ecosystem.

We believe that today’s complex societal challenges—rapid urbanization, climate change, spatial inequality, and the growing need for inclusive urban and regional governance—can only be addressed through transdisciplinary approaches that integrate scientific knowledge, technology, and humanistic values. For this reason, SAPPK fosters meaningful collaboration across academia, government, industry, and civil society.

Strategic Directions of SAPPK 2025–2030

Over the next five years, SAPPK will focus its transformation efforts on five strategic directions:

  1. Governance Excellence & Agile System
Building an efficient, adaptive, and transparent governance system through digital process integration and results-oriented organizational design.
  2. Research & Innovation for Impact
Enhancing the impact of research and innovation through our flagship initiative, BRIDGE (Built enviRonment Innovators for Development, Growth, and Excellence) which serves as a cross-sector and cross-actor collaborative platform.
  3. Collaborative Partnerships for Growth
Establishing sustainable partnerships that not only promote academic cooperation but also enable alternative funding schemes to support SAPPK’s programs and initiatives.
  4. Adaptive Learning Ecosystem
Creating a dynamic and interdisciplinary learning environment responsive to contemporary challenges through thematic studios, international joint programs, mini-courses, and executive classes.
  5. Student Empowerment & Well-being
Empowering students as agents of change through mentorship programs, character development, and psychosocial support services.

These five pillars are implemented within a strategic roadmap that extends to 2030, with clear performance indicators and measurable targets. This roadmap reflects our commitment to accountable governance, inclusive collaboration, and long-term impact at both local and global levels.

BRIDGE: Collaborative Innovation

One of our core initiatives is the development of the BRIDGE collaborative research platform. BRIDGEThrough BRIDGE, SAPPK promotes innovative approaches to integrate knowledge, expertise, and resources from multiple stakeholders to generate comprehensive solutions for urban, rural, and nationally strategic area challenges.

The philosophy of BRIDGE stems from the belief that many solutions already exist around us—our task is to bridge, assemble, and integrate those elements into a coherent system of knowledge and impactful action.

Closing Remarks

We understand that institutional transformation is not an instant process, but a journey that requires synergy, courage, and collective commitment. I invite all members of the SAPPK academic community, our partners, and the wider society to be part of this transformation—shaping an inclusive, sustainable, and globally competitive future together.
